The opening of Alexey Tikhonov's solo photography exhibition, «Vow of Silence», took place on June 25 at the regional library, as part of the XI International Photography Festival «PhotoKrok», named after Sigismund Yurkovsky. The event also featured the presentation of Tikhonov's new photo album.
Vasily Prudnikov, the festival's creator and curator, highlighted the deeply metaphysical nature of Tikhonov's photography. Despite its straightforwardness, each shot conveys a sense of something that just happened, capturing the moment immediately before the photo was taken. This ability to evoke both the before and after moments is a vital quality of his work. Presenting these images allows viewers to engage their imagination and complete the story. Silence. Stillness. Exactly what's needed for focus – both for the artist while shooting and the audience while contemplating.
The photo series «Vow of Silence» is a profound philosophical project centered on abandoning words entirely in favor of pure visual communication.
The exhibition was open from June 25 to 29.
