Presentation of the documentary «Vitebsk Boxing School. The story in the faces. Vilya Ilchenko» took place in the library on June 20. The author of the idea of the film, Eduard Bogdanov, and director Angelika Gancharova continued to discuss the traditions of Belarusian boxing, laid down by Abram Brin and his students, including Vilya Ilchenko.
Vilya Ilchenko is an outstanding boxer and honored coach, Master of Sports of the USSR. A graduate of the unique Vitebsk boxing school, he won a silver medal at the USSR Championship in 1961. After completing his sports career, Ilchenko devoted himself to coaching, leaving a significant mark in the history of Soviet and Belarusian boxing. His pupil Vyacheslav Yanovsky became the first and only Belarusian Olympic boxing champion.
Boxing fans, coaches, and former athletes who came to the presentation watched the film with great interest and thanked the authors for their attention to the pages of the Vitebsk region's sports history and sports veterans.
