Creative meeting with Rustam Sagdullaev

As part of the III Belarusian-Uzbek Women's Business Forum, a creative meeting with the Uzbek actor and director, Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustam Sagdullaev took place in the Vitebsk Regional Library.

 The event was attended by library readers, fans of the artist's work, representatives of the Vitebsk branch of the Belarusian Union of Women, veterans' organizations, as well as students of the Vitebsk State College of Culture and Arts.

The guest was addressed with a welcoming speech by the chairperson of the coordinating council of public organizations of Vitebsk, chairperson of the city council of veterans Larisa Olenskaya. She emphasized that such meetings contribute to strengthening cultural ties between countries, increase interest in the forum and are a reason for pride, reflecting the common historical and spiritual heritage, which is important to preserve and pass on to the younger generation. Rustam Sagdullaev gained wide popularity thanks to his role as the pilot Romeo in Leonid Bykov's war drama «Only Old Men Are Going to Battle» – an image that won the hearts of millions of viewers. His filmography also includes such beloved films as «Tenderness», «Lovers», «What Are Our Years».

During the meeting, the artist spoke about his creative path, paying special attention to his participation in the International Film Festival «Listapad», where he repeatedly became a laureate, including receiving the Presidential Prize «For the Preservation and Development of Spiritual Traditions in Cinema».

Of particular interest was the story about the filming of the Belarusian-Uzbek film «Unforgotten Song», in which Sagdullaev played the role of Mamadali Topvaldyev – Hero of the Soviet Union, Belarusian partisan and native of Uzbek land. The actor noted: «Belarus is memory. My fellow countrymen fought here. Their exploits and the people's love for them are priceless. I am proud to have played Mamadali Topvaldyev. We lived and worked here for six months. The attitude to history in Belarus is very reverent – we were given all the conditions for filming: they even provided us with working military equipment from the Great Patriotic War».

As a director, Rustam Sagdullaev made his debut in 1984 with the film «Stay». In 2001, he acted as director, producer, co-author of the script and starred in the 10-episode TV series «The Blind».

The meeting took place in a warm, sincere atmosphere. The guest generously shared his memories, creative plans, advice for aspiring actors and readily answered numerous questions from the audience. His sincerity, respect for history and devotion to art found a lively response from the Vitebsk public.
