On the eve of the Day of Belarusian Literature and the Day of Libraries, a press conference «Books are a storehouse of wisdom, knowledge and culture» was held in the Media Center of the Vitebsk Region, dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Literature and the Day of Libraries.

Experts discussed the importance of books and their influence on our lives, culture and education.

The head of the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Petr Podgursky, made a report on the successes and problems in the development of librarianship in the region, emphasizing the importance of supporting local authors and preserving the unique literary heritage of Belarus.

Director of the Vitebsk Regional Library Tatyana Adamyan and Director of the Centralized Library System of the City of Vitebsk Elena Bogatenok spoke about modern approaches to organizing the work of libraries that help attract young people and develop their interest in reading works of Russian and world literature, as well as about the main projects that libraries are preparing for their readers for the professional holiday, which will be celebrated on September 15.

Chairperson of the Vitebsk Regional Branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus, Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Belarus Tamara Krasnova-Gusachenko spoke about the participation of the delegation of the northern region in the events of the Day of Belarusian Literature in Lida, about new books by writers and poets of the Vitebsk region, which will be presented to a wide range of readers.
