Strengthening of Belarusian-Russian cultural ties continues within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Vitebsk Regional Library and the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of Belarus.
New horizons for joint work and exchange of cultural values are especially relevant in the context of preserving historical memory and cultural heritage. An important event was the opening of the exhibition «Tragedy of Loss and Greatness of Victory», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition has already been presented in other cities of Belarus. Now it allows the readers of the regional library to touch history through art.
The exhibition is a unique collection of photocopies of graphic works by artists who lived through the horrors of war and depicted them in their works. At the exhibition you can see the works that are permeated with deep emotions and memories of tragic events. Each canvas is not just an image, but a whole story that conveys the bitterness of loss, the joy of victory and the pain of separation.
Library Director Tatyana Adamyan in her welcoming speech emphasized the importance of partnership with the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Belarus and told about the prospects of further joint activities.
Tatyana Pototskaya, head of the General Reading Room, introduced the guests to interesting facts about the works from the personal collection of Vladimir Belikov. Special attention was paid to the works of Belarusian authors, whose biography has an amazing connection with Vitebsk region.
The collection includes a work by Georgy Poplavsky from the series «Time of Long Knives», as well as an illustration to the work of the famous Belarusian writer Vasil Bykov «Go and Not to Return». In addition, the exhibition includes photocopies of Boris Zaborov's etchings entitled «Radunitsa». The creativity of the presented artists is permeated with personal experiences, which makes their works especially significant.
The exhibition «Tragedy of Loss and Greatness of Victory» is located in the foyer of the 3rd floor of the library and will be open until the end of the month. This is a great opportunity for everyone to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of historical memory and appreciate the artistic talent of masters, whose works continue to talk about the most important events of our history.
