During February, the employees of the children's and youth departments organized a series of events for preschool and school institutions of the city dedicated to the International Mother Language Day.
Among them were: an hour of rest «Gulnyavy Karagod», an hour of knowledge and discovery «Mova rodnaya –mova modnaya», a magazine acquaintance «All the colors of «Vyasyolki»», a literary kaleidoscope «Flying to the land of Belarusian Cossacks», an etiquette class «Be a Belarusian» and an acquaintance game «Do you know the Belarusian language well?».
In a form accessible to children, the librarians told about the history of the Belarusian language and its lexical features, explained the rules of modern spelling using fascinating material, and also presented books by Belarusian writers from the library's collection. In addition, they remembered traditional Belarusian folk games, which were an integral part of holidays, family gatherings and village get-togethers.
Foreign scientists note that the Belarusian language is one of the most melodic languages in the world, ranking second in euphony after Italian. This is the conclusion reached by researchers from a special agency of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
