As part of the «Local History Meetings» series, a presentation of the book «Vitebsk: Spasskaya Street. Commissar Putna» took place on November 14 in the regional library.
The history of Spasskaya Street and Dukhovskaya Embankment in Vitebsk, the architectural features of the houses, the personality of Vitovt Putna, whose name the street now bears, are presented on the pages of the new book by Doctor of Art History, Professor Tatyana Kotovich. The tragic fate of a gifted person, artist, polyglot, military leader did not leave the participants of the meeting indifferent.
This is the third book about the Vitebsk commissars published by the author. Previously, the books «Vitebsk: Commissar Krylov Street» and «Political Mysteries: October 1918 – December 1919» were published. Associate Professor Natalia Tarabuko spoke about the virtual project «Vitebsk was here», which reminds everyone about the people and celebrities who were significant for Vitebsk and who once visited the city.
