The meeting «Literary style», organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus, was held on November 13 in the regional library.
This was the first of the planned meetings with the heads and specialists in the acquisition of library collections in the country. Representatives of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts and writers also took part.
The head of the culture department of the Vitebsk regional executive committee Pyotr Podgursky addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the productivity of such meetings and their effectiveness in solving pressing issues.
Irina Karpovich, head of the culture department of the Ministry of Culture, drew attention to the importance of cooperation between publishers, writers and libraries, as well as the need to popularize reading.
Candidate of Historical Sciences, chief bibliographer of the National Library Lyutsiya Tupchienko-Kadyrova presented the book «Newspaper lines reading with the heart. 1944», published for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus. She spoke about the facts of the liberation of the territory of Belarus, noting that Belarusian newspapers from the library's collections were used in the creation of the book, and announced the continuation of the project with the publication of the second part of the book.
Alexander Karlyukevich, director and editor-in-chief of the Zvyazda Publishing house, spoke in detail about the long-term plan for publishing socially significant publications in 2025. A. Karlyukevich noted that the plan included 33 titles of publications, of which 15 are financed by the Ministry of Information and 18 are self-supporting, and analyzed the quantitative composition of literature published by Belarusian publishing houses.
A wonderful addition to the meeting was the speech of the Belarusian children's writer Ekaterina Khodasevich-Lisovaya, who shared information about her new books and noted the importance of children's literature for the formation of personality.
The meeting ended with a discussion of issues of completing library collections, training and retraining of personnel, standard staffing levels and forms of state statistical reporting.
