Library and school: facets of cooperation

On October 29, the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin became a venue for a methodological association of history and social science teachers of secondary schools in the city's Oktyabrsky district.
The event was initiated by teachers of secondary school No. 11 named after M. Bakhtin, who did not accidentally choose the place to meet with their colleagues. The regional library has had many years of cooperation with the educational institution.
In her speech, teacher and class teacher Yana Borozna emphasized the special role of the library in the educational process of students among other social institutions with which the school interacts. The report presented the educational potential of the library, which is successfully implemented within the framework of the target comprehensive program «Living Word of Spiritual Wisdom».
The program of the methodological association also included library practices, which were conducted by the head of the general reading room Tatyana Pototskaya. The guests got acquainted with the library's virtual project «Vitebsk Region in the War of 1812» in an interactive format. The multimedia resource was created with the aim of popularizing and expanding knowledge about the events of 1812 among various categories of users, cultivating respect in the younger generation for the memory of people who defended their homeland, and for the history of their native land using the example of the Vitebsk region during the war with the French. The teachers were presented with a creative form of work of the library with schoolchildren. The guests were especially interested in the quest book «Vitebsk through the eyes of Napoleon». Facts of military history, including Napoleon's stay in Vitebsk, helped the library staff create a unique product that draws attention to the sights of our city.
Teachers of secondary schools of the Oktyabrsky district of Vitebsk noted that the study of historical events, culture and traditions of different periods is productive and promising in the joint activities of librarians and teachers. Such close cooperation, fellowship, co-creation will be the key to a high-quality educational and upbringing process.
