A bright presentation of a book by Doctor of Art History, Professor Tatyana Kotovich, dedicated to the outstanding artist El Lissitzky, took place on October 15 in the regional library.
The publication «Vitebsk. El Lissitzky» became the ninth book in the series «Vitebsk Notes», which explores the history and work of UNOVIS members.
Tatyana Kotovich emotionally described to those present the atmosphere of the «suprematic city of Vitebsk» of the 1920s. She spoke about the key moments of Lissitzky's creative path, his printing projects and influence on the cultural life of the region. Particular attention was paid to the creation of the Museum of the History of the Vitebsk People's Art School, where a floor stone panel with Lissitzky's famous poster «Beat the Whites with a Red Wedge» is located. Tatyana K. spoke about the period of the museum's creation, interesting exhibitions and events that have taken place recently.
The topic was continued by the organizer and curator of the II International Poster Competition «UNOVIS. XXI century. #EL130/ #EL130» and the poster exhibition Natalia Tarabuko. She presented to the guests an unusual constructive book by the winner of the competition in the nomination «Book#KNIGAEL», a student of the Vitebsk State Technological University Anna Krasotskaya.
The presentation was not only a tribute to the great master, but also an important step in popularizing the art of the Vitebsk art school, inspiring new generations of creators.
