Thematic evening «United Belarus», dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the reunification of the Belarusian people, was held in the library on September 16.
The organizers of the evening were the Vitebsk Regional Library and the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region. Representatives of the regional organizations of the Belarusian Trade Union of Agro-Industrial Complex Workers and the Belarusian Trade Union of Employees of State and Other Institutions, and young people took part in the evening.
Deputy Director of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region Tatyana Buevich spoke about the historical situation that developed in the 1920-1930s, preceding the liberation of Western Belarus and the reunification of the Belarusian people. The events of September 17, 1939, captured on newsreel footage from the funds of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, were shown to the participants of the evening. The book exhibition, prepared by the library staff, featured publications dedicated to the Day of National Unity and the history of Belarusian statehood.
