On July, 11 the exhibition «Heritage of the collecting «Vitebsk antiquities»», dedicated to the book heritage of Alexei Sapunov – an outstanding historian, archaeographer and local historian, is opened in the library.
Oksana Anatolyevna Zorina was born and raised in Vitebsk. In 2004, she graduated with honors from the faculty of decorative and applied arts of the Vitebsk State College of Arts, and in 2009 she graduated from the faculty of fine arts of the Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov. She chose vytynanka, malyavanka and printed cloth as her main areas of creativity.
Vytynanka is one of the oldest types of decorative and applied art, which originated in China and eventually spread throughout the world. On each continent, this type of art has its own distinctive features, and modern Belarusian vytynanka is also based on national motifs, recognizable images and folk traditions.
All this is reflected in the work of Oksana Zorina, who has been making vytynanka for over ten years. At the opening of the exhibition, the master of folk crafts (handicrafts) of the Cultural and Historical Complex «Golden Ring of the City of Vitebsk "Dvina"» shared with the guests a story about her creative path, which not only drew her into the magical world of vytynanka, but also instilled an interest in the creative heritage of our people.
By the way, in 2021, the art of Belarusian vytynanka received the status of intangible cultural heritage and was included in the list of historical and cultural values of Belarus.
The exhibition runs until October 31.
