On August 21, the presentation of a new book by local historian Arkady Podlipsky «Ilya Repin's Vitebsk Pienaty», took place in the library.

It is symbolic that the publication devoted to Ilya Repin and his Vitebsk period became the eighty-fifth book of the author. Arkady Podlipsky has been researching this topic since 1968, his books «Zdravnevo: Repin lived here» (1990) and «Zdravnevo: Repin lived here» (1995) opened to many Vitebsk citizens the previously unknown pages of the famous artist's life.

New study by Arkady Podlipsky comprehensively and in detail covers not only the Zdravnevo period of Ilya Repin's life and work. Here and the history of the estate «Zdravnevo», as well as personal stories of Vatslav Fedorovich, Alexei Sapunov, Vladimir Stukalich, Sigismund Yurkovsky, Repin's students, artists Marianna Verevkina and Alexei Yavlensky.... During the presentation Arkady Mikhailovich drew the attention of those present to the tragic pages of the book connected with the fate of the artist's family, talked about the long way to the restoration of the estate and the creation of a museum in Zdravnevo.

Marina Buza, great-granddaughter of the hero of Ilya Repin's painting «Belorus» Sidor Shavrov, family of one heroes of the book, a graduate of Zdravnevo school, Stalin Prize winner Grigory Korunny, took part in the presentation of the book.
