The Day of slavonic script and culture, which is celebrated in Belarus and the slavonic countries of the world on May 24, is timed to coincide with the Day of remembrance of saints Cyril and Methodius.

The holiday reminds us of the creators of the slavonic alphabet and the need to respect and preserve written and cultural traditions and customs of different countries.

With the advent of writing, thought and words were able to spread in space and time. To revitalize the written word, it is enough to read it, even after centuries.

The department of main collection storage and digitization of documents presents a video presentation of the photo album «Pages of great culture», which contains unique pages of the «Ostromyrov Gospel» and «Apostle» by Ivan Fyodorov, handwritten texts by Fyodor Dostoevsky and Dmitry Mendeleev, director's notes by Sergei Eisenstein and impressions of Yuri Gagarin recorded during the first space flight.
