Seminar «Smolensk–Vitebsk: Book World without Borders»

On May 19, leaders and specialists of the Smolensk Regional Universal Library visited the library.
The meeting took place as a part of the cooperation agreement between the regional universal libraries of the border territories of the CIS member states signed by the heads of the state budgetary institution of culture «Smolensk Regional Universal Library named after A. Twardowski» and the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin. As a part of the meeting, the scientific and practical seminar «Smolensk–Vitebsk: book world without borders» was held. The work of the seminar was attended by the leaders and specialists of the Vitebsk and Smolensk regional libraries.
The participants of the seminar were welcomed by the director of the Vitebsk Regional Library Tatyana Adamyan, chief specialist of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Zoya Gukova, Deputy Director of the Smolensk Regional Universal Library Elena Gavrilova, and head of the religious education department of the Vitebsk diocese Archpriest Andrey Smolski. They noted the importance of professional communication, information exchange of experience, joint participation in international projects.
The head of the general reading room of the Vitebsk Regional Library Tatyana Pototskaya spoke about educational work as part of the library program «Living Word of the Spiritual Wisdom» and cooperation of the library with the Vitebsk diocese and presented a new project – the database «Saint Patrons of Vitebsk region».
Within a framework of a professional meeting, the exchange of collections of humanitarian, patriotic, historical, local history, spiritual literature and books for children's books took place.
