A Literary-musical evening for International Mother Language Day and a general dictation

On February 21, a traditional literary-musical evening dedicated to the International Mother Language Day, whereby a general dictation was held, took place in the library.
The moderator of the evening – leading bibliographer of the local lore department Katerina Yaskevich – told the participants of the event about the history of the holiday. A welcome speech was given by the chief specialist of the Department of Culture of Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Denis Yurchak. Teachers and students of the Vitebsk branch of the International University «MITSO» took part in the evening and prepared a video with congratulations.
This year marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of the national poets of Belarus Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas. The writers' poems were read by the library staff at the event. The general dictation was read by the head of the department of art literature Elena Vasilevskaya. The excerpt from the story of Jakub Kolas «Thoughts on the road» was chosen for writing. A book exhibition was prepared for the event.
